New World: How to Get the Azoth Staff

In New World, leveling your character is the key to obtaining essential equipment and tools needed to progress through the game’s many questlines and activities. One such vital piece of equipment in New World is the Azoth Staff, an emblem and fundamental tool of the anointed Soulwarden. The Azoth Staff is a necessary tool for completing specific random events and accessing expeditions. If you are looking to acquire the staff, be prepared for a rather long journey. This guide will teach you how to get the Azoth Staff and what it is used for in New World.

How to Get the Azoth Staff in New World

To attain the Azoth Staff in New World, you will complete all the quests given by Yonas the Hermit, a fisherman at Fisherman’s Bend. He is located slightly to the west of Primrose, near the Hermit’s Shrine west of Windsward. While your level may vary at this time, you should have finished the main quests up until around level 20. 

You’ll have to fulfill a chain of quests that will have you traveling all over Aeturnum. On this journey, you’ll need to go to Windsward, First Light, Monarch’s Bluffs, Everfall, and Brightwood. Your work will be cut out for you with lots of mob killing, crafting, and fetch questing. You know you’re getting close to the final quest after you’ve slain the Level 20 forge master at the Amrine Temple. Yonas will then send you to the Shattered Obelisk to forge your Azoth Staff at its altar. 

How to Use the Staff 

After obtaining the Azoth Staff, you will be able to access New World expeditions and use it to complete Corrupted Portals and Breaches. Corrupted Portals and Breaches are randomly occurring events that can vary in difficulty and often require a group of up to five players to complete. Successfully finishing these events will provide you with the necessary ingredients to craft Amrine Tuning Orbs, which allow access to the Amrine Excavation expedition. Portals and Breaches also reward you with valuable gear and Azoth, a unique currency for things like resetting your weapon talents and fast traveling.

New World will be officially released on PC on August 31.
