It is double the Nick Fury action in this week’s Fury #1. A first look at the Marvel one-shot shows off Nick Fury and his son, Nick Fury Jr., in a decades-spanning adventure. This adventure comes from writer Al Ewing along with artists Scot Eaton, Ramon Rosanas, and Adam Kubert. It also serves as a 60th anniversary celebration for the Marvel superspy.
Double The Nick Fury
This 60th anniversary one-shot follows Nick Fury Jr. as he is pulled into action by a “glamorous rogue agent with a deadly secret.” As he delves further into this new mystery, Junior learns that the case leads back to his father, Nick Fury Sr.! As he keeps digging, he uncovers never-before-seen Fury files from past decades. His father’s files from the ’40s, ’60s, and even today seem to follow a mystery left unsolved. Each file seems to ask the same thing: Who is S.C.O.R.P.I.O.?
Of course, this decades-spanning mystery is going to take more than one Fury to solve. Father and son team up to solve this riddle and stop whatever threat the world could be facing. This anniversary spectacular has everything you can want from a spy adventure, including espionage, explosive battles, shocking revelations, and a few daddy issues.
A Sneak Peek
The first look at the issue shows (thanks BleedingCool) off a present-day Nick Fury Jr. as he dives into an underwater bunker emblazoned with “Who is S.C.O.R.P.I.O?”. Unfortunately, some silent alarms alert the bunker’s inhabitants of the infiltration. As Junior is cornered by masked men with guns, it seems this is the end.
Then the previews cut to Fury’s father as he engages in a mission aboard a rocket. With the aid of Dum Dum Dugan and Jason Sitwell, the senior Fury launches into space on a mission of their own.
It looks like Fury #1 has plenty of spy action to go around. Look for it at your local comic book shops this Wednesday!
