The official Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Twitter page had confirmed that the team will be adding Garfield as the game’s first new DLC character. Garfield, the iconic comic book feline form that has been in a variety of TV shows and movies over the year’s including Garfield and Friends, which aired on Nickelodeon in 1988, will be available for free in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as DLC on December 9 on Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam versions of the game. He will be available for the Nintendo Switch version sometime later this month.

Developer Ludosity had commented on the addition of free DLC in the past, and has already added the first wave of free DLC costumes to NASB, and is expected to add more in the future. Along with Garfield, we’ll also be seeing another free DLC character in the future, as Developer Ludosity also confirmed, in addition to paid DLC sometime much later. Although unconfirmed as of now, evidence points to this second character likely being Shredder, the iconic villain from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.
Although Garfield originally got his start as a Saturday paper comic strip before hitting television and cartoons in the 1980s. Viacom ended up purchasing the rights to Garfield in 2019, and since Viacom owns Nickelodeon, the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl team was able to consider Garfield as a playable character for the game.
The current roster for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl now includes Garfield; Oblina from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters; Avatar Aang, Toph Beifong, and Avatar Korra from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra; CatDog from CatDog; Danny Phantom from Danny Phantom; Helga Pataki from Hey Arnold!; Zim from Invader Zim; Lincoln and Lucy Loud from The Loud House; Ren and Stimpy and the Powdered Toast Man from The Ren and Stimpy Show; Reptar from Rugrats!; SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks from SpongeBob Squarepants; Leonardo, Michelangelo and April O’Neil, from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; and Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberries.
