Deadline has revealed that Nico Santos (Crazy Rich Asians) has joined the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy 3. His role is unknown, but he joins new members who will participate on the latest adventure with the cosmic criminals turned heroes with Chuk Iwuji (Peacemaker), Will Poulter (Dopesick), Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), and Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad).
Production recently wrapped after starting last November. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith are executive producing. David J. Grant and Lars P. Winther are co-producers.
The plot is under wraps, but fans should have some expectations based on James Gunn’s work so far with Marvel and his distinct style. Gunn is returning to direct and pen the script. We know it will be the last time we see this group of Guardians, as Dave Bautista has said it will be his last due to age-related reasons.
Nico Santos cast in Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Nico Santos is most notable for being a part of the cast of Crazy Rich Asians. Other works include Superstore, Paul Bart: Mall Cop 2, and The Prince. He is currently slated to star in The Re-Education of Molly Singer with Ty Simpkins (Jurassic World), Britt Robertson (Big Sky), and Holland Roden (Teen Wolf). He will continue this road of comedy with Happiness for Beginners, which stars Luke Grimes (Fifty Shades of Grey), Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Gus Birney (Plan B).
By joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Nico Santos will meet returning stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Sean Gunn. The film will release in theaters on May 5, 2023. No Disney Plus date was mentioned, but Disney has been putting its films at least after 45 days after release to its streaming platform, so it is possible, depending on the COVID-19 situation, by next May.
