Last month, NieR: Automata received quite a lot of backlash on Steam, suffering massive review bombing due to the updated and enhanced BECOME AS GODS Edition releasing on Xbox Game Pass but not Steam. Feeling they’ve been put on the back burner, Steam users took to their keyboards criticizing this unfair treatment from PlatinumGames.Â
However, a future upgrade patch was recently announced for the Steam version of NieR: Automata. The Steam Event page displayed the quote, “We’ll have more information to share with you at a later date.” Scroll down to the comment section, and you can see the evident enthusiasm shared by the platform’s userbase.Â
“people who review bombed, your efforts weren’t in vain. But for real y’all should’ve done this before lol. Anyways this is nice”
“YEEEESS finally, they actually listened”
“Wow the downvotes actually made them realize they really need to fix their game”
The triumphant group of players sees their review bombing efforts as a success, with PlatinumGames giving in to their demands. On the other hand, there is some speculation that this is all a PR move to encourage sales for this month’s later release of NieR: Replicant. Either way, Steam users got what they wanted.Â
The following is the report from QLOC, the studio in charge of the improved port to Game Pass.Â
The NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition is now available for Windows 10 in the Microsoft Store! QLOC is happy to share the news that the very well-received Yoko Taro’s masterpiece has been adjusted to the new platform with the help of Warsaw #QLOCdragons. On special request from PlatinumGames the new version has additional enhancements:
- Borderless video setting
- FidelityFX
- HDR
- UI Textures upscaled to 4K
