Believe it or not, it’s coming up to 30 years since The Nightmare Before Christmas first graced us with its presence. The fantastic stop motion musical released on October 29th, 1993, meaning it’s 27 years old tomorrow.
The movie is pretty perfect, with the only issue being fans arguing over whether this is a Christmas or Halloween movie. The answer is obvious, but I say it doesn’t matter as The Nightmare Before Christmas can, and should, be enjoyed year-round.
If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know that Danny Elfman did an amazing job with the music. There are plenty of classic songs in The Nightmare Before Christmas; in fact, I’ll bet you’re singing some of them in your head now.
The folks over at Mondo also realize how great the music is as they have teamed up with Disney to release a limited edition The Nightmare Before Christmas vinyl soundtrack.
Available on their store to order from today (October 28th) at 10 AM PST, the soundtrack will come in the form of two 180g vinyl records based on Jack and Sally, which, as you can see from the above image, both look stunning. The jacket art is also designed by Tim Burton.
Unfortunately, these are very limited, with only 5000 units being made, so there’s every chance that you’re reading this after they have sold out, in which case I apologize.
If you are lucky enough to snag a pre-order, the records should ship in November and will set you back $35.
Let us know your thoughts on this vinyl release in the comments. I actually debated whether I should write about this or keep it to myself in the hopes of managing to buy one. In the end, you won, dear reader, and I wish you luck if you try to make a purchase. The race is on.
