There is a huge sign of relief for users after Nintendo extends code redemption date for Wii U and 3DS eShops. While the company had recently shut down eShops for both devices, the extension for redeeming codes will give some leeway to the users. Nintendo has posted the news on its official Japanese Twitter account. According to the company, the redemption process stopped about nine hours before the official time. This was causing technical errors during the redemption process. However, the extension will help users who were facing technical difficulties while using the codes in the eShops last week.
Nintendo Extends Code Redemption Date For Wii U & 3DS eShops
The new end date for redemption of game codes is 4th April 2023. The users have approximately a week to redeem any codes they have at their disposal. Note: The users can’t use the extension period to redeem prepaid eShop cards and add funds to their account. They can only redeem codes for digital downloads of games like The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.

The company’s tweet clearly reads, “Sales of products (download software, additional content, tickets, and in-game items) at the Nintendo 3DS series and Wii U eShop ended at 9am today,” and thanks customers for their loyalty and support.
The tweet also says, “In addition, after 00:00 on March 28 (Tue), it was not possible to redeem the download number earlier than the scheduled time, so we have extended the redemption until 13:30 on April 4 (Tue). Please redeem it again from the Nintendo 3DS/Wii U eShop. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Nintendo has also made it clear that any unused 3DS/Wii U eShop balances can be used on Nintendo Switch or My Nintendo Store. Users can link their Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo Account to use the balances. However, if users don’t want to collect their balances, the company will refund it starting from early April 2023 to March 2025.
