Nintendo of America is releasing a brand new Nintendo Switch Lite in April but the handheld device doesn’t feature any new specs nor is it related to any video game. Instead, the company is adding another distinct and dazzling color to its line up of Lite’s called coral.
This will be the fourth vibrant color Switch Lite to join the others and it is the first to include a more entertaining and unique name. The smaller but still just as fun Switch already comes in an array of colors such as gray, turquoise – my personal favorite – and yellow. The systems launched back on September 19, 2019, so this marks the first time the console has released a brand new color in six months.

The coral version follows the announcement of an Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch module. However, it is a full-fledged system capable of being docked and transported around instead of the handheld and portable Switch Lite. The coral Lite should be releasing in Japan just in time for New Horizons on March 20 but will be available elsewhere a monther later on April 3, 2020.
Nintendo announced the new Lite the same day the company posted about a 25-minute long live-streamed Animal Crossing Direct coming February 20.
The coral-colored Lite is actually quite a beautiful looking system and it wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo of America decided to release even more colors. Maybe one day there will be enough Nintendo Switch Lites to match the colors of the rainbow. There was no mention of a matching carrying case to protect your new precious coral Lite but let’s hope that’s added soon.
The new coral-colored Switch Lite will retail for the same price as the previous versions, $199.99.Â
