The Nintendo Switch new model is coming this late 2021, and it is packing in a bigger display. According to Bloomberg, this incoming model is set to have a seven-inch screen. And Samsung Display Co. will take care of the OLED. All the hopes are up that it will roll out on or before the Christmas holiday.
The report says that the Nintendo Switch new model will have a seven-inches screen with a 720-pixel resolution which is an upgrade to the current 6.2 inches and Lite’s 5.5 inches size. It will also have 4K ultra high definition graphics which is perfect for pairing it on TVs. By June, Samsung Display Co. will also start mass-producing these new OLED panels with just under a million monthly target, and by July, these displays are now ready for shipment to assemblers.
Even though Nintendo Switch is still selling well against Xbox and PlayStation, it is now in its fifth year. Microsoft and Sony now have more powerful machines in the market. This is why a lot of speculations have sprouted, but Nintendo was keeping their mouth shut. Their president even said they do not have plans to announce a new model “anytime soon.”
But with the involvement of Samsung doing the OLED display, Nintendo is serious about making the big update.
“The OLED panel will consume less battery, offer higher contrast and possibly faster response time when compared to the Switch’s current liquid-crystal display,” – Yoshio Tamura, Co-Founder of Display Consultancy DSCC
Bloomberg‘s analysts also shared that the release of this premium Nintendo Switch new model for the 2021 holiday will drive the company’s sales and also “extend the life cycle of the Switch platform for many more years.”
Nintendo Switch recently released Mario Red & Blue Edition to commemorate the launch of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
