Nintendo has announced that it will not participate in Gamescom 2022, an important video game event in Europe. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the company’s European division.
In a statement sent to Games Wirtschaft, a Nintendo of Europe spokesperson explained that the company will not be present at Gamescom 2022. Note that after several years of rest caused by the pandemic, the event will return physically in August.
According to Nintendo, Gamescom remains a very important event for them. However, after “careful consideration,” they made the decision not to participate in the 2022 edition of the event. Studio also made it clear that players in Germany will be able to try out upcoming releases for the Nintendo Switch at “numerous events.”
“For Japan and video game fans, we have decided to participate in the Main Matsuri Japan Festival in Frankfurt as well as the DoKomi in Düsseldorf and the AnimagiC in Mannheim. Further tour stops and activities are being planned.”
Nintendo Will Not Be at Gamescom 22
The Nintendo office in Frankfurt reports this at a request from GamesWirtschaft. Japan company says after careful consideration, it will not be going to Cologne for the game fair and to focus on other events in the summer.
Nintendo’s Europe division told that Nintendo will not be appearing in the show this year:
“Gamescom is a key event in Nintendo’s events calendar. This year, however, after careful consideration, we have decided not to go to Cologne . Instead, players will be able to try out Nintendo Switch games at numerous events throughout Germany.”
Gamescom 2022 will take place from August 24th to 28th, 2022. This year’s event will be hybrid, which means that it will be held in person in Cologne, Germany, but will also have an online component.
