As is almost customary at this point, developer Hello Games announced and surprise-released No Man’s Sky Outlaws, the latest free update to expand the spare-faring sim.
As the name implies, Outlaws sees players become interstellar pirates and smugglers, draft in a squadron of wingmen, fend off raiding pirates, sample re-balanced and improved space combat, and even take part in in-atmosphere dogfights.
All this scratches the surface, though. True to form, Hello Games has bundled in a host of new content, including everything from visual effects and cloth physics to new solar sail starships, outlaw stations, contraband, forged passports, passing frigate fleets, and much more.
Of course, there’s no shortage of new piracy-tuned activities. These include shuttling contraband, new outlaw procedural-generated missions, and preying on high-value freighters as they dart across planetary trade routes.
No Man’s Sky Outlaws comes with its own Expedition, too, called Blighted and set to launch ‘soon,’ says Hello Games. A group of pirates known as The Blight is up to no good. Players will embark on a narrative-driven treasure hunt, tracking these curious pirates searching for a mysterious treasure.
Hello Games cooked up an accompanying trailer to showcase No Man’s Sky Outlaws, which you can peep at below.
