No Time to Die may not be in theaters yet, but that hasn’t stopped its theme song from being a hit. As reported by The Grammys, the Billie Eilish-sung “No Time to Die” won a Grammy in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category. In doing so, it beats out formidable opponents like Frozen 2’s “Into the Unknown”, Onward‘s “Carried Me With You” and Cats‘s “Beautiful Ghosts”.
The win is notable for a good reason – its parent film isn’t even out yet. No Time to Die is the victim of multiple rescheduled release dates, most of which stem from the COVID-19 pandemic. The James Bond flick, which is the last to feature Daniel Craig as the iconic spy, was originally slated for a November 2019 release, changing its release date several times before settling on 8 October, 2021. However, UK audiences see the film earlier on September 30.

Billie Eilish, however, released the song on February 13, 2020 (the movie was postponed to February 2020 at one point). This melancholy track is the brainchild of both Eilish and her brother, Finneas O’Connell. O’Connell, a recording artist himself, claims to have written the track with Eilish over three days on a tour bus in Texas. The musical siblings also collaborated with Hollywood film composer Hans Zimmer on the song.

Secondly, Eilish herself, 18 at the time of its release, is the youngest artist to write and record a James Bond song.
