Square Enix today announced the first collaboration event between its hit mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and the award-winning RPG game Octopath Traveler.
From today until September 5th, Final Fantasy Exvius players will be able to deploy characters from Octopath Traveler including Primrose, Olberic, Therion, and Tressa.
Each character has been redesigned in a new pixelated form, although the original Octopath Traveler ones were already pixelated. Commenting on the matter, Square Enix said the new versions of the characters have been conceived to have a “more modern look.”
In any case, the new characters will have attacks and skills that they are known for being particularly useful to the party. The Final Fantasy company did not mention whether other characters will become available in the future.
Together with the announcement, Square Enix released the following trailer showing the new collaboration.
Clear the path for the long-awaited arrival of Olberic, Primrose, Therion, and Tressa from #OCTOPATHTRAVELER! Summon them with higher rates than usual for a limited time from 8/23 01:00 to 9/6 00:59 PDT! pic.twitter.com/xPp9IOFgSp

A special mode will also be available that will see players collaborating in order to defeat a limited-time raid boss and earning special rewards. From August 30, players will be able to challenge another boss – the BlottedViper – to earn additional rewards.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is the result of the collaboration between Square Enix and Gumi Inc, a leading global mobile game publisher and developer headquartered in Japan and best known for games such as Brave Frontier and The Alchemist Code.
The game has so far registered 40 million downloads worldwide, so its collaboration with Octopath Traveler is set to propel the game’s sales substantially.
It features characters and monsters from across the Final Fantasy franchise including some original characters and a unique story. The game uses the gacha mechanics to allow players to customize their characters, as well as get new ones.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, together with the new Octopath Traveler characters, is available for both Android and iOS devices on the App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon App store.
