As part of the Dungeons and Dragons live stream of 2020, titled “Roll With Advantage,” there have been several intriguing announcements. One that has been in the works for a while is an official Dungeons and Dragons cookbook.
Titled Heroes’ Feast: The Official Dungeons and Dragons Cookbook, this book was helmed by Kyle Newman, Jon Peterson, and Michael Witwer. This features recipes taken from throughout the lore of the D&D universe. This includes all the campaign guides, books, comics, and other extended material and lore. These recipes are based on various races, locations, and famous taverns.
In a demonstration during the live D&D 2020 event, the three authors created different dishes from the book. This demonstration was hosted by Mica Burton and Anna Prosser. Michael Witwer cooked a dish titled Elven bread. It is a bread made with honey and whole ingredients swirled with sugar and cinnamon. Jon Peterson created a cocktail titled the Mind Flayer, based upon the infamous Underdark enemies using a blender filled with ice. Kyle Newman cooks a seafood dish based off of the knucklehead trout from Icewind Dale, a distinctly human dish.
This book features 80 professionally created dishes along with stunning photography. Other recipes included in the book are Iron Rations, Hogs in Bedrolls, Drow Mushroom Steaks, and Moonshae Seafood Risotto. Aside from entrees and side dishes, this book also includes various desserts and cocktails such as Heartlands Roseapple and Blackberry Pie and the Chultan Zombie.
Fans of Dungeons and Dragons have created their own recipes based on these cultures for years. But this first official book will give a deep dive into traditional recipes players can expect when traveling across the lands. The book will be available through online ordering or anywhere D&D books are sold this October 27th. It is currently available for preorder on Amazon as a hardback for $14.99.
