The official Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny trailer has been released. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer and six minutes of film footage were unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration in London. The trailer for Indiana Jones 5 sees Indy (Harrison Ford) preparing for retirement before his goddaughter (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) digs him out to seek out something that her father told her Indy discovered during the war. She’s referring to “a dial that could change the course of history. But Indy gives a warning in the form of a question: “Why are you chasing the thing that drove your father crazy?”
‘Indiana Jones 5’ Trailer Teases Indy’s ‘Final Triumph’
From there, we see Indy step back into all the action that made him an iconic movie hero. This trailer shows that the final Indiana Jones adventure holds nothing back, from tuk-tuk races in Morocco to horseraces in a New York Parade to Indy jumping out of a plane. We also see Indy facing an intimidating new villain (Mads Mikkelsen) with sinister purposes for the dial, saying, “Hitler made mistakes, and with this, I will correct them all.”
The Indiana Jones 5 trailer also features numerous drawbacks to the past films of the franchise. Indy recalls being tortured with voodoo (Temple of Doom). We also see an encounter with a rolling rock (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and we see him reunited with John Rhys-Davies’ character Sallah (Raiders and Last Crusade).
Antonio Banderas, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, and Ethann Isidore also star alongside Ford, Bridge, and Mikkelsen in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. It is the first Indiana Jones movie not to be directed by Steven Spielberg, and it is intended to be the franchise’s final installment. Harrison Ford, now 80, said in 2021, “I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone.”
This official trailer should hold us over until Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is released on June 30th.
