Okami is a game that is near and dear to a lot of people’s hearts. It released back in 2006 and has since been considered a masterpiece thanks to beautiful visuals and solid, refined gameplay. Its spiritual successor Okamiden and later HD remaster only elevated the great concept further. With how great of a game it is, it’s no surprise that fans of the game hunger for a sequel. They want to know where Okami is going, and overall chances are looking pretty high.
Ikumi Nakamura, the creative director who’s best known for infamous Ghostwire: Tokyo, says she will pitch an Okami sequel to Capcom. According to her, the chances of that getting approved are “pretty high” and it makes sense. The Okami series is a big thing for a lot of people, and for them to have another sequel would be a no-brainer. That’s massive potential wasted if not made, so hopefully, she can get it approved. It just depends on Capcom’s reaction to the idea and I’d be more surprised than not if it got denied.
This should be huge news for Okami news as, while it’s a way out if approved, it still signals its existence. If you aren’t already an Okami fan though, now may just be the best time. Okami follows Amaterasu, the Japanese sun god who takes the form of the legendary white wolf. You’re on a quest to defeat the malevolent Orochi, an eight-headed demon who’s turned your world into a wasteland. Will you be able to put an end to him? If you think you’re up for the challenge, the game is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC for $25.
