In the newest celebration for One Piece’s 25th anniversary, Eiichiro Oda has shown the journey of one pen nib and a new worldwide trailer for One Piece Red. The promotional video shows a trail of pen nibs paired with manga panels to show the emotional journey. One Piece’s Youtube account has posted the video.
Since 2017, July 22nd has been recognized as “One Piece Day” by the Japan Anniversary Association. The celebration is set to last two days and features a wide release of One Piece content across different platforms. Another of these releases features a new trailer for the upcoming One Piece Red film.
As a part of the celebration, One Piece Red had its official movie debut at Nippon Budokan on Friday. Voice actors and the director, Goro Taniguchi, were in attendance. Along with that, the film’s debuted character Uta held her first live concert. Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass, One Piece: Defeat the Pirate Ganzak!) is directing the film. Eichiro Oda (the original creator of One Piece) is serving as an executive producer for the film.
One Piece 25th Anniversary: A New Character for a Beloved Favorite
One Piece Red centers on a new character named Uta. She is later revealed to be Shank’s daughter. The story will be set on the Island of Music, where Uta plans to hold her first concert. The Straw Hat Pirates sail to the island to enjoy the music, only to discover who her father is. The new One Piece Red trailer can be found down below.
The film will officially open in Japan on August 6th. Those not living in Japan can expect to see the movie screened in theaters sometime this fall. These screenings will be available in Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English dub.
After 25 years and over 1,000 chapters, One Piece is now entering its final arc. The first of the chapter is set to debut in Japan on July 25th.
