The One Punch Man fandom has topped other anime fandoms for being the most negative on Twitter. A recent tweet from UberFacts showed a graph that showed the highest amount of negative words used in fandoms on the website. One Punch Man series rose to the top, with 174 of every 1000 words being negative on Twitter. However, it is important to note that the post is dependent on active fandoms on Twitter.

One Punch Man’s boom in popularity put it on the same level as series like Attack on Titan and Dragon Ball. That popularity, however, saw a decline with the show’s second season in 2019. Many fans blame the switch from animation studios (from Madhouse to J.C. Staff) as one of the big reasons for the negative reception. This is due to the change in art styles, animation quality, and pacing.
The graph also shows other active anime fandoms on Twitter. Most notably, the Death Note and One Piece fandoms were just behind One Punch Man, hitting 172 negatives per 1000 words. Fullmetal Alchemist and Demon Slayer follow behind with 170.
One Punch Man: The Praise and the Criticism
One Punch Man is an action comedy series based on the manga written by One. It revolves around a hero named Saitama, who wins every fight with one punch. While others envy him, Saitama finds himself bored because there is no one to challenge him. Now, he must find a cure for his boredom, reach the status as the number one hero, and help his apprentice Genos become one of the strongest.
Most recently, the show’s third season was confirmed to be in production as of August 2022. However, there is no clear release date or timeline for this season. Since then, rumors have started that Studio MAPPA would be animating again, but this has yet to be confirmed.
One Punch Man is available to stream on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Hulu.
