When it comes to classic RPGs, players often have difficulty playing these older games. While re-releases and upgraded versions provide these experiences, many of them are few and far between. Despite this, classic RPGs are largely influential to the genre we play today. One such example is Moon RPG from the Japanese indie dev, Love-de-Lic. Originally released for the PlayStation in 1997, the title developed a cult following for its unique gameplay. Including systems like time of day, love levels, and even a customizable soundtrack. While the game was never localized in other regions, its influence on the genre cannot be understated. After bringing the game overseas to the Switch and a PC port on the way, Onion Games’ Moon is coming to more platforms. Announced today, Moon RPG will be releasing on PlayStation systems later this year.
This is not a dream! Onion Games is proud to announce that #MOON_RPG is coming to PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5.

What Does Trailer for Moon’s PlayStation Port Show?
While the announcement showcases a new trailer featuring a wide cast of characters, the announcement is a decent surprise. Since the original re-release in Japan back in 2019, fans have been waiting to see the critically acclaimed RPG make its way to other countries. After a full year of the English Moon RPG’s Nintendo Switch release, Onion Games is finally ready to bring the title to PlayStation. Influencing games like Toby Fox’s Undertale with its battle system, Moon certainly trailblazed the genre decades earlier. Not only does the game flip traditional character stigmas and expectations, but it also generally parodies what the genre had become at the time. Released in the same year as Final Fantasy 7 and Fallout, it’s easy to see how Moon flips normal RPG conventions. Now returning to the series roots, Moon RPG for PlayStation has yet to reveal a release date or price. More than likely, the title will cost the same as it does on the Nintendo Switch at just under $20.
