While Warner Bros. plans for the DC Extended Universe are running full steam ahead rumors are stirring. Rumor has it Warner Bros. has met with actor Oscar Isaac for a lead role in Matt Reeve’s Batman film. There is still a bit of a question mark surrounding Matt Reeves’ solo Batman film. Only a year since The Justice League film, however, there are questions as to whats next for the caped crusader? With the script still in development and Ben Affleck’s uncertainty of returning any time soon. Fans fear a delay on the film. If the rumor is true light has shown on the franchise. As excitement sweeps the DCEU if Oscar Isaac receives a mystery role in the film.
While the actor has said he would be highly interested in being apart of the team, no official contracts or offers have been made. Of course, With Warner Bros., you never know what they discuss in those four walls, and things are always changing and adapting. If Warner Bros. “is targeting an A-list actor to play the film’s main villain.” having Oscar Isaac would be a great asset to the DECU. With his exceptional roles in X-Men: Apocalypse and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he is a unique and powerful influence on any team.
Many theories of who it could have already crept onto fan sites one fan claims it could be the Penguin another claims he would make a great Harvey Dent/Two-Face. I could see him as Julian day the Calendar Man. The Long Halloween is one of my personal favorites of Batman. Written by Jeph Loeb the comic takes you through a year-long pursuit of “Holiday” who is Holiday and why can’t Batman figure it out sooner. I would love to see Oscar Isaac as one of the characters in this particular Jeph Loeb story. Many of the fan theories are remarkable, and hopefully one is correct. Fans are looking forward to the film, with any luck it comes out sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately, Matt Reeves’ Batman solo film does not have a production start date or official cast or release date. The film is expected to arrive sometime in 2020 at the earliest. Next up on the DCEU docket is James Wan’s Aquaman, stated to release December 21, David F. Sandberg’s Shazam!, which hits theatres April 5, 2019, and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984, which drops November 1, 2019.
