Outward is a game with death around every corner. It’s a survival RPG that will put your skills to the test. Keep yourself fed and hydrated, regulate your body temperature and avoid dying in combat, and you might survive. Players who enjoy this sometimes brutal gameplay will be happy to know that new adventures await. Outward: Definitive Edition is coming to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
Everything is trying to kill you, but you don’t need to die alone. Outward supports co-op with a friend. According to the game’s Steam page:
“In order to survive in the dazzling yet deadly world of Aurai, you’ll have to be cunning, clever and prepared. Devise diverse strategies to defeat your foes and don’t neglect your basic needs, sharing your journey with a friend, locally or online.”
What’s new in Outward: Definitive Edition?
According to today’s announcement, the new edition features several improvements to gameplay. For example:
“Crafting will be more accessible and corruption hazards (that were previously DLC exclusive) will spread throughout the game and make the world of Outward feel more cohesive,.”
Speaking of DLC, Outward: Definitive Edition will include the two previously released DLCs, called The Three Brothers and The Soroboreans. The Three Brothers DLC unlocks a new region to explore. The Soroboreans DLC gives players new skills, enchantments, dungeons, and more.
Developer Nine Dots Studio is also creating new content that will be exclusive to the definitive edition of the game:
“Seasoned adventurers will face new challenges in the Definitive Edition of Outward in the form of new unique encounters in dungeons, new defeat scenarios and some new diseases too.”
There is no word yet on when exactly Outward: Definitive Edition will make its way to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. When it does, players who already own Outward and The Three Brothers DLC will have access to Definitive Edition at no extra cost.
