Rogue-like genre games always have a certain place in peoples hearts. Popular titles like Binding of Issac, Enter the Gungeon and Slay the Spire have blessed the gaming world with unique ways of enhancing the genre. Just when rogue-like games seem to be dissolving from the gaming world certain titles seem to erect from the cracks in from the floorboard of the internet. One, in particular, was Overdungeon.
Overdungeon has taken three types of genres and mashed them into one. The rogue-like, tower defense, deck-building game has added a card casting craze through intense gameplay. Overdungeon has players using decks they built from the ground up in order to defend mobs of creatures from entering the dungeon keep. The spells found in whatever deck created could be casting items or random minions on the field. These could be towers or animals such as cats, dogs, or grand chicken coops. So for any animal lovers, this might be an instant purchase for r you or a traumatic experience – since the creatures could die on the field.
Overdungeon also has a skill tree or what the game called ‘runes’ which after each battle experience would be distributed to enhance the quality of the next fight. Since Overdungeon has rogue-like elements the maps are randomly generated so each playthrough has its own unique experience.
Overdungeon can be found on the Steam app page. The title was released on August 23rd and has already been getting very positive reviews. One reviewer by the name of ‘Lost’ stated,
7/10 – A solid foundation for what could be a genre defining classic.

The developers, Pocket Pair, inc has confirmed that they will be constantly updating Overdungeon with new cards, heroes, and balancing the deck building system.
