In an emotionally charged new trailer from Overkill, Maya, one of the four playable characters in the titular The Walking Dead game, finds herself thrown in the middle of the zombie outbreak.
The new trailer reveals that Maya is a nurse or doctor and sees all the patients on the floor come back from the dead. Her and her partner desperately fight off the horde before her partner succumbs to the bite of one of the newly risen patients. Maya is forced to put a bullet through his head, and the trailer concludes with her faced in the mirror, her new fate ahead of her.
Having their lives dramatically changed by the apocalypse is one of the main similarities between all four characters, something clearly seen in the aftermath of Maya’s standoff.
The game is looking to be a very cinematic approach compared to past Walking Dead games of the same genre with this trailer revealing a much darker environment than the first trailer which was based outside in the games main locale, Washington D.C.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead is a four-player co-op action FPS developed by Overkill, a Starbreeze Company. The game is set within The Walking Dead universe, where players will survive in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C.
Players will find themselves faced against both the dead and the living to survive using each of the characters unique skills and abilities. Action takes place up-close and personal with the enemy and nothing is for certain, according to Overkill. Players will band together to complete raids and missions in a city overrun with zombies and human enemies, where the environment is as important as the weapons.
Hordes of zombies can be just around the corner, so players are warned to be stealthy or to charge in depending on their play style and unique ability. Improvisation is apparently one of the Overkill’s The Walking Dead’s strong suits according to the games website.
The game is set to release Fall 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.
