Overwatch 2 has finally arrived, however, it also brought some connection errors. The Overwatch 2 servers went live a bit before the scheduled launch time of 12 PM PDT. However, if you’re experiencing difficulties signing in, it seems you’re just one of many.
Why I’m Getting Overwatch 2 Server Connection Errors
You can press the play button and try to log in if you already had Overwatch 2 pre-loaded and received a minor update today. For instance, some live streamers on Twitch can access the menus and queue for Quick Play. However, many other players have no access to the menu and queue.
According to PC Gamer’s Tyler Colp, he has seen the line grow to 40,000 people. And the login page spews out errors like “unexpected error” that pushes you to the rear of the line or “lost connection to the game server.”
There isn’t a fix available for this problem right now. This appears to result from the servers going online early and experiencing issues with the volume of users attempting to log in. However, the “unexpected server problem” warnings that some players are getting while trying to enter into Overwatch 2 are “currently being worked on,” according to a tweet from Blizzard CS.
If you get a “lost connection to the game server” error, your only options are to keep trying to get in or patiently await the right launch time.
For the Overwatch 2 launch, players must adjust their schedule depending on their time zone. The hour for different timezones is as such:
- PDT: 12 p.m
- EDT: 3 p.m
- BST: 8 p.m
- CET: 9 p.m
- AEST: 6 a.m (October 5)
With these schedules, you can plan your day accordingly. This provided no technical difficulties like bloated servers or delays during Overwatch 2’s release time.
Remember that during Overwatch 2 launch, you’ll be able to purchase the Watchpoint Pack. This pack includes skins, 2000 coins, the battle pass, and the new character Kiriko.
