Pac-Man and Reincarnated as a Slime: Two Powerhouse Franchises
Toru Iwatani created Pac-Man in 1980. The original game was one of the biggest commercial hits in the early 198os. From there, it spawned an ongoing franchise featuring sequels, spinoffs, and TV shows. The character has since then become a mascot for Bandai Namco Entertainment.
In other Pac-Man news, the company is releasing a compilation of the franchise’s most popular and influential games. These will be released for Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 26th.
The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime began in 2014. There are currently 19 volumes as of November 2021. The story first originated as a web novel on Shousetska ni Narou. Since then, light novels have inspired manga adaptations, other manga spinoffs, and games. Most recently, a new film has been announced for the franchise.
Regarding That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, the first anime of Taiki Kawakami’s Isekai manga is an adaptation of Fuse and Mitz Vah’s light novel. It first premiered in October 2018. Crunchyroll then streamed the anime in both its Japanese sub and English dub. The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime second season premiered in January 2021.
The cross-over content will be available in-game from March 31st until April 8th. As of now, there is no definite release date for the game.
