In a cover story on Pamela Anderson by Variety, we have her reaction to Pam & Tommy, which included her thoughts on Lily James (who played her in the Hulu series) and wanting an apology from the creators, who she described as “a–holes.” This is her first major time opening up about the series, as she was quiet when the world was seeking a reaction.
The series followed her relationship with drummer Tommy Lee (who was played by Sebastian Stan). Like any biopic, it missed the mark on some accuracies and played things out that could have given a bad taste in the mouth of the real people. In this case, Pam & Tommy missed the mark entirely for Pamela Anderson, who refused to watch a second of the series. She said that the people behind it still “owe me a public apology.” Although, she did give her reaction to the look of James and Stan from the advertising, saying that they looked like “Halloween costume[s].”
Pam & Tommy creators are “a–holes” as Pamela Anderson wants an apology
The series was created by Robert Siegel (Welcome to the Chippendales). The two leads were joined by more major stars, with Seth Rogan, Nick Offerman, and Jason Mantzoukas as Tommy Lee’s penis. It was a huge hit for Hulu, leading to 10 Emmy nominations with a single win.
The story goes back to the power of Pamela Anderson as she distances herself from Pam & Tommy. As the Netflix documentary, Pamela: A Love Story, gears up to release on January 31, she invited James to the premiere. She said she holds “nothing against” the star for portraying her in the Hulu series as “she was just doing the job.” Still, she noted that “the whole thing happening was just really crushing.”
Pam & Tommy is available on Hulu. Meanwhile, A Love Story will be on Netflix on January 31.
