Kingmaker takes players on an adventure through the Stolen Lands, which were made popular within the Pathfinder TTRPG. The game remains true to the tabletop game that came before it by having players interact with familiar characters and locations featured in the lore. It also includes new adventures, enemies, and outcomes not presented in the core books.
Classic RPGs are rare guests on consoles, and we are thrilled to introduce the complete Pathfinder experience to the console owners. And with the new turn-based combat, the players about to get even more gameplay variety they expect from a game of this genre,” said Alexander Mishulin, creative director at Owlcat Games.”
The game stands out in one major way from when it was released on PC by including a brand new turn-based combat mode. The mechanic will also be added to the PC version in an upcoming update. The mode allows players to pause gameplay while they look around the map or plot out battle tactics.
The console version also released with all of the previously released DLC.
- Pathfinder: Kingmaker – The Wildcards
- Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Varnhold’s Lot
- Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Beneath The Stolen Lands

Kingmaker plays similarly to classic games like the Baldur’s Gate series and newer releases such as Pillars of Eternity. Players build a party of up to six characters and explore the expansive world. Characters can choose between 16 unique classes and nine races before they set off on their journey. Paizo released the Second Edition tabletop roleplaying game of Pathfinder at Gen Con in 2019.
As for if the game will ever come to Nintendo Switch, Paizo responded by saying,
We don’t know what Owl Cat Games has planned regarding bringing Pathfinder: Kingmaker to Switch, but you can tell them so, if you are interested!”
