Ready to head back to Golarian with a fresh set of rules? Paizo is deep into their push towards the second edition of their Pathfinder rule set, and players had better act fast if they want paper copies of the playtest rules. They will only be printed once, and the deadline to order is May 1. Check out the playtest announcement below:
If you want to order some of this “one time only” Pathfinder material, here are your options:
- Pathfinder Playtest Rulebook – This is the playtest equivalent of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook. 400 pages long and detailing all the required rules for running characters through an adventure up to level twenty. Paizo’s press release indicates there are three different versions available: hardcover, softcover, and a “deluxe hardcover with foil-debossed faux-leather cover and ribbon bookmark.”
- Pathfinder Playtest Adventure: Doomsday Dawn – Not quite a full adventure path like Rise of the Runelords or Curse of the Crimson Throne, Doomsday Dawn is a 96-page, seven scenario handbook that is designed to introduce players to the second edition rules and to put those very rules to the test. Have your players roll up some new characters and see if you can break the game!
- Pathfinder Playtest Flip-Mat Multi-Pack –Â Two 24″ by 30″, double sided playmats designed to use with the playtest adventure. These mats are miniature-scaled and full color.
You can preorder any of these products until May 1 from Paizo’s website. They ship worldwide, but those attending Gen Con 2018 can pick up their preorders at Paizo’s booth.
Pathfinder is a tabletop RPG that spun off of Dungeons & Dragons in 2008. This is the first major rule overhaul that developer Paizo has ever done, so dedicated tabletop roleplayers will probably want to pick up some copies and help shape the direction of future sourcebooks. The full, free playtest will begin August 2, where players will be able to download PDF versions of the two books.
