One of the stars of the Netflix series Sex Education, Patricia Allison, has left the show. The actress announced the news in an interview with Capital Xtra (seen below).
“I absolutely have loved being on Sex Education so much and playing Ola, but unfortunately, I won’t be joining the team for season four,” she said. She added that this would open her up for other projects.
It is unclear how the loss of Patricia Allison in Sex Education will affect the story and characters. She played Ola, Jakob’s (Mikael Persbrandt) pansexual daughter. Having a vital character introduced halfway through the first season and then disappears could make for a challenge, but this is not new for TV, so the show will find a way to explain her absence.

While moving away from the streaming platform’s Sex Education, Patricia Allison does have a couple of projects to put her energy into. The action movie Paradise is in production for a 2022 release where she will be a gunslinging punk trying to stop the corrupt officials from covering up her father’s murder. On the TV side, she will star in the action-adventure-comedy Extraordinary. She will be joined by Siobhán McSweeney (The Fall), Robbie Gee (Paddington 2), and Máiréad Tyers (Belfast).
The Netflix series Sex Education follows a boy (Asa Butterfield) and his sex therapist mother (Gillian Anderson), who open up an underground sex therapy clinic within his school. It also stars Emma Mackey (Death on the Nile), Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells (Emma.), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Wolfblood), Aimee Lou Wood (Living), and Alistair Petrie (Rogue One).
The BAFTA-winning series was created by Laurie Nunn, who serves as the lead writer and an executive producer. It is also executive produced by Jamie Campbell, Ben Taylor, Slan Robbins-Grace, and Joel Wilson. Acting as producers are Maria Moss, Emma Parsons, Sophie Goodhart, Simon Morris, Clare Couchman, and Jon Jennings.
