Everyone has a bad fan interaction, and Paul Mescal has quite the story as he was groped when posing for a selfie. In an interview with ES Magazine, he revealed this happened to him outside of the London theater, Almeida Theatre, where he stars in Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire.
Paul Mescal was asked to take a picture by a fan outside of Almeida Theatre. Shortly after, she put her hand on his butt. After thinking it was an accident, he moved, and her hand followed. That was when he called her out on it.
“I remember tensing up and feeling just, like, fury. I turned to her and said, ‘What’re you doing? Take your hand off my ass.'”

Calling someone out in the theater was something the actor recognized. He said it was the “last thing I want to do” as it could be “uncomfortable” for the people you see the situation. In this case, it went far enough for him to call out as it was “so gross” and “creepy.”
The actor has started to become more prominent in the industry, especially since he is nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Aftersun. In the interview, Paul Mescal talked about fan meetings and becoming more famous. Although he had this negative experience, he did note that “97% of it is really nice.”
A Streetcar Named Desire has been a major hit. The play, directed by Rebecca Frecknall, will go over to the West End theater, Phoenix Theatre, on March 20 for six weeks.
When the actor goes away from the stage, he will still be quite busy. He was recently cast in the highly anticipated Gladiator sequel. Other projects he has lined up include Merrily We Roll Along, The History of Sound, The End of Getting Lost, Strangers, Foe, and A Spy by Nature.
