Gaming conventions have long since been wanted to return ever since the pandemic shuttered events. The tried and true tradition of gathering in a warm convention center with other gamers is exciting. After all, these conventions host some great showcases of both mainstream and indie talent. One event that is no stranger to hosting all sorts of titles throughout the years is the Penny Arcade Expo. PAX has a long-standing history as one of the best gaming convention circuits. With so many events taking place across the United States and Australia, the event is looking to come back in a big way. Facing some controversy this summer during PAX West for their stance on testing and vaccinated attendees, PAX East is promising to be better. Announced on the PAX Twitter page, PAX East 2022 attendees will require proof of vaccination.

How Will PAX EAST 2022 Mandate Vaccination for Attendees?
Detailed on their health and safety page is the statement of vaccine requirements more clearly. The first full Penny Arcade Expo vaccine-required event is sure to draw much attraction from those wanting to recapture that pre-pandemic feeling. After receiving some backlash for hosting an event that allowed unvaccinated attendees, PAX is working to improve that. Despite this, returning the event with vaccine requirements was realistically the only way forward. With more access to the vaccine and overall pressure from the community the Penny Arcade Expo vaccine requirement is moving forward. As convention centers and stadiums have started their vaccine mandates, of course, the bigger entertainment expos would follow suit. It’s no surprise that PAX, which usually can host over 80,000 attendees, would start requiring vaccines so soon. While the page states the policy can be subject to change, as some attendees of PAX West were made aware, this is a confident step forward to hosting safer events.
