James Gunn’s series Peacemaker’s Rotten Tomatoes score has officially surpassed Wonder Woman with only four episodes out.
Peacemaker’s Rotten Tomatoes Rise
Third, on the rankings sits The Suidice Squad. James Gunn also wrote and directed this film, and it is the film where fans can first see Cena’s Peacemaker. Currently, the lowest-rated DCEU title is David Ayers’ Suicide Squad (2016), which sits at 26%. Since its release, Peacemaker has seen a lot of praise from fans on all platforms.
The first three episodes of Peacemaker are available on HBO Max. The series was first posted on January 3rd. However, on this weekly release schedule, there are only supposed to be eight episodes for the first season. According to an interview with Gunn, only the first seven episodes were shown to critics to avoid any possibilities with spoilers. In the same interview, he also went on to say,
I wouldn’t let them put out eight. They wanted too put out all eight and I said ‘No way. No chance in hell are we putting out all eight. There’s just too many things that happen in eight episodes that I just could not let it get out there. It would absolutely be spoiled ‘
Peacemaker was initially announced in 202o, shortly after The Suicide Squad. Peacemaker picks up the events right after the film, with John Cena reprising his role as the Chris Smith (AKA Peacemaker). After his hospitalization from the first film, he is then recruited for another mission by a shadowy government group. From there, he and his rag-tag team of “heroes” must work together to stop the looming threats on America. Gunn has also stated that DC Films and HBO Max let him go “hog wild” for the series, with plenty of creative freedom.
New Episodes for the show are released every Thursday on HBO Max.
