Peach Momoko is once again putting readers back in the Momoko-verse. This time, the legendary artist is taking aim at an iconic event in Marvel’s history: Civil War. The upcoming Demon Wars: The Iron Samurai will continue Momoko’s tradition of blending Marvel characters with traditional Japanese folklore.
Peach Momoko and Civil War…Tell Me More!
The upcoming four-issue limited series is a sequel to Momoko’s Demon Days saga. Momoko is handling both writing and drawing duties for the series. She will take readers on a journey through her imagination with this all-new story.
As Momoko reimagines Marvel’s Civil War event, iconic characters will receive a complete overhaul. The series will have new versions and incredible new designs for heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, and more. This new tale will also feature more of Momoko’s wondrous creatures. This includes sentient samurai armor, a winged person in a falcon mask, a mysterious panther person, and a red snake-like monster. The protagonist, Mariko Yashida, finds herself stuck in the middle of these warring creatures. Eventually, she must choose a side!
So Cool! What Does Momoko Have to Say About All This?
Speaking to Marvel, Momoko shared her excitement to continue the Momoko-verse. Specifically, she is excited to “show more of the love” that she has for Japanese folklore. She is also excited to show how that folklore inspires her with new stories to be told.
Plus, she is happy for the chance to redesign even more Marvel heroes under her own lens: “It is an honor to tell my version of the classic Marvel Comics event, Civil War. My story and characters are already so different from the main Marvel Universe designs” Demon Days: The Iron Samurai will give fans the chance to see different levels of Marvel storytelling.
