The mission should have been a one-and-done deal. Steal a massive mech, evade trouble, and break away for freedom. But on a strange alien planet, it’s not so simple. In A Rogue Escape, it’s up to you to take control of the situation in Spare Parts Oasis’ upcoming VR experience.
This Cosmic Mech is Your Only Ticket Out of Here
A Rogue Escape is actually a reimagining of the developer’s previous project, Nauticrawl. Quite similarly, Nauticrawl is a rogue-lite puzzler where levers, switches, and death ditches are the name of the game. You need to commandeer a gigantic hulking machine, yet Nauticrawl‘s design is more of a user interface experience. In contrast, A Rogue Escape tosses away the previous concept in favor of a more realistic adventure.
Built from the ground up, Spare Parts Oasis partnered with VR development studio Sylphe Labs to bring the new project to literal life. Within the five incredibly detailed control centers of the mech – which is uniquely called a Nauticrawl – is a library of different mechanics to experiment with. From turning dials to power switching, A Rogue Escape aims to be an immersive VR title.
I got the rare opportunity to realize my childhood dream of what it would really feel like to be inside a mysterious machine, surrounded by buttons and levers to experiment with, while danger lurks outside of the riveted metallic walls!” – Andrea Interguglielmi, Developer of A Rogue Escape
A Rogue Escape Trailer
Publisher Armor Games Studios revealed the debut trailer along with the game’s announcement and release date. The trailer showcases the steampunk environments and otherworldly presence outside the Nauticrawl. Backed with an atmospheric score, the footage here is a solid teaser for what to expect.
A Rogue Escape will be a tasteful treat for VR enthusiasts and champions of escape rooms. Players can either sit or stand to play, with additional features to support other languages. It’ll be dropping on all major VR platforms, including the Oculus Rift S, Oculus Quest 1 & 2, HTC Vive, and the Valve Index. The game will be released this year on June 10. Additionally, you can wishlist the upcoming VR experience now through here.
