Frontier Developments has just announced that Planet Coaster: Console Edition Deluxe Edition will be launching on November 10th. It is the theme park building simulator we all know and love. A true spiritual successor to the legendary Roller Coaster Tycoon, which is easily one of my favorite games from that era. Since its original launch back in 2016 only PC gamers have been able to enjoy this, but now console players are getting a piece of the action.
There’s a special pre-order bonus available too for Planet Coaster, in the form of a unique ride called Oswald’s Magnificient Machine. This is a creative roller coaster designed by Oswald B. Thompson. It was the first coaster he ever designed and captures the creativity and fun that’s injected into every one of Oswald’s parks.
Planet Coaster is Frontier’s first release in the next-gen console market, and they’re being sure not to cut any corners in its development. The game has been reworked from the ground up, with several redesigned features to better support playing with a controller. These include a total rework of the games UI, a new radial menu, and obviously a completely new set of controls. Players on consoles will still have access to Frontier’s workshop, where they can download and use a whole heap of amazing player-created content to really put the finishing touches on their park, along with sharing their own Planet Coaster creations with the world.
There’s another nice bonus too. If you buy Planet Coaster in either the standard or deluxe edition for the current generation of consoles, you are eligible for a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5Â as soon as it becomes available, with all of the added optimization and performance. Even if you buy a physical copy of the game, just inserting the disc will trigger the next-gen version of the game to download.
Planet Coaster: Console Edition will cost $49.99 for the Standard Edition and $59.99 for the Deluxe Edition.
