Planet Coaster, the theme park sim from Frontier is finally going to be landing on consoles this fall. The title was announced coming to the Xbox One and PS4 last November, but so far it hasn’t materialized. On Tuesday, Frontier announced it had pushed back the console launch a bit in order to get ready for both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
While Planet Coaster: Console Edition will also be on the PS4 and Xbox One, the timing of the release could mean this will be a launch title for the next-gen consoles.
For those who haven’t played the game before, the official description is:
Create. Manage. Share. Inspire and be inspired as you create, manage, and share the world’s greatest coaster parks with friends and content creators around the world. Surprise, delight, and thrill your guests by building a coaster park empire, and let your imagination run wild with the future of coaster park simulation games.
If there is one question left unanswered by the company’s press release it’s how much content will be packed into the console version of the game. Since Planet Coaster was first released several years ago on the PC, Frontier has issued several pieces of DLC.

Some games that release on the console after the PC pack in everything that was offered on the other platform. Others pack in some of the DLC while giving users the chance to purchase extra for discounted prices.
We’ll have to see what is in store for Planet Coaster: Console Edition. There isn’t an official release date for the game beyond “Holiday 2020.” The company said it will be releasing the version for the current generation consoles as well as the next-generation consoles at the same time. November seems to be just about the right time for the game to land.
Planet Coaster: Console Edition arrives on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X this Holiday season.
