PlayStation has announced its brand new premium PS5 controller, the DualSense Edge. The controller will be released on January 26, 2023, with pre-orders opening up on October 25, 2022, and run for about $199.99 USD/£209.99.
The DualSense Edge: Overview, Price, and Features
PlayStation’s new DualSense Edge controller was originally revealed back in August during Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live as a highly customizable controller that came with several player-friendly features and attributes. The newest trailer for the controller provides a full showcase of these features and how they will help enhance the overall player experience.
The most notable of these include the ultra-customizable controls that can be tailored to activate or deactivate certain button inputs, the ability to swap and save freely between multiple profiles, a user interface, and interchangeable stick caps and back buttons players can shift around wherever they please.
It also features replaceable stick modules and built-in wireless controller features like a built-in microphone, haptic feedback, etc.
Along with the controller itself, those who pre-order will receive several additional items with which they can customize the controller to their preferences. These include a USB braided cable, 2 Standard caps, 2 High dome Caps, 2 Low dome caps, 2 Half dome back buttons, 2 Lever back buttons, connector housing, and a carrying case for all of it.
“The opportunity to create the DualSense Edge wireless controller was a dream come true for our team. We wanted to build on the legacy of iconic PlayStation controllers by creating a controller that empowers players to experiment and personalize elements based on their own unique playstyle – whether they are a competitive gamer or someone who just enjoys having more options to customize their play,” said Daisuke Kurihara, PlayStation art director, in a press release.
Players will be able to purchase the DualSense Edge controller next year, but pre-orders will be available next Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
