Even though I still can’t seem to get my hand on any PS5s coming out, I’m still very excited to see what the newest member of the PlayStation family can do. It seems that Sony is excited as well, as they’ve announced that there will be a special PlayStation Showcase scheduled for next Thursday that will give fans an inside look at what might be next from some of PlayStation’s first-party offerings from the talented teams under PlayStation Studios.
The PlayStation Showcase on Thursday, September 9 will last just under an hour at around 40 minutes or so, and it will premiere at 1 PM PT (or 9 pm BST/10 pm CEST). The PlayStation Showcase on Thursday will not feature anything in the form of VR (nothing on PSVR 2 or any potential games for it), Sony’s studios have also confirmed in the announcement. In addition to the PlayStation Studios teams, we will also get to see upcoming games from “some of the industry’s most imaginative developers”, so expect some games from both big and small third-party publishers. The live streams will be available both on YouTube and Twitch, so you’ll have no trouble finding a place to watch. You can bet that we’ll have a summary of the event after it’s concluded too.
Sony didn’t show up for E3 this year, and was only a small presence at Gamescom, making this the largest scale showing of the Playstation brand since its last State of Play in July.
The news also comes on the eve of Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s 4K 60fps PlayStation 5 update, and Horizon: Forbidden West pre-orders opening up ahead of its February 18, 2022 release date. We already had a decent look at the game not too long before E3 2021, which makes me very excited for when the new game comes out.
What do you think about the upcoming PlayStation Showcase? What do you think we’ll see in Thursday’s showing? Leave me a comment down below with your thoughts.
