Nintendo’s subsidiaries continue to surprise fans this year. With fewer announcements due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many studios have massively scaled back production. Due to this, many titles have either been delayed further or outright cancelled in some instances. Despite some other Nintendo franchises not seeing the same treatment, the Pokémon company loves to surprise and showcased a brand new game today. Seeing the success of other remakes like Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu, Game Freak is definitely paying attention to player feedback. Delivering on a few more fan expectations like the previous announcement of New Pokemon Snap is a promising trend for The Pokemon Company. This morning at the Pokémon Presents Livestream, Game Freak announced full Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes in the Sinnoh region.
How are the Pokemon games being remade?
Starting out, the presentation focused on a more general history of the series. Despite this, they did have time to share some new details on their most anticipated remakes yet. The remakes are a true recreation of the original games from 2007. The games this time deviate from other remakes in the series that usually take a more creative approach but still understanding and following the linear format. With the Sinnoh region, however, it seems that Game Freak is making a faithful remake with some alterations from the Sword and Shield engine. The gameplay seems to be a mixture of the wild area and battles from Pokemon Sword and Shield and the chibi art style of let’s go. Improving upon this existing system while allowing for more in-depth gameplay is the perfect way to make more fans happy with a new play system. While a released date is still vaguely up in the air, the 2022 release window is a good start.
