Ground type Pokémon are certainly heavy hitters. They can lay out serious damage to numerous types like Poison, Steel, Electric, Rock, and Fire. However, in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Ground type Pokémon have their share of weaknesses.
If you have a favorite Ground type you love battling with, or you happen to encounter some strong ones, it’s only beneficial to understand these weaknesses. This way, you can work around them or use them to your advantage.
Ground Type Weaknesses in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
Whenever a tank is needed in battle, a Ground type Pokémon always pulls through. They can take a lot of damage, and they’re downright immune to Electric attacks. If you need a straight heavy hitter, Hippowdon is a good choice to pull out. With that said, this type does have weaknesses to Grass, Ice, and Water Pokémon and moves.
Alongside that, they don’t perform that well when facing Bug or Grass types either.
Also, be wary around Flying types if you have a Ground type. With the obvious differences between them, it’s no wonder Ground Pokémon aren’t effective against a creature in the air. Or perhaps you can pull out your Flying type if you’re battling a Ground Pokémon and lack any of the types they’re weak against.
If you’re in a battle against a Ground type, Pokémon like Bidoof (Water-type), Sceptile (Grass-type), or the dual Walrein (Ice/Water-type) can get you through the battle well.
Additionally, you can always have some of your other Pokémon learn Grass, Ice, or Water moves to help in your battles.
