Barboach was first introduced in Generation III with Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald and once again makes an appearance in the recent remakes of the Generation IV games, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The Water and Ground-type Pokémon evolves into Whiscash, and with evolving your Pokémon being such a key component of the series, it is essential to know how to do it. Luckily, the process of getting Barboach to Whiscash isn’t really complicated but will require a bit of grinding. This guide will explain how to evolve Barboach in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.
How to Evolve Barboach in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
Before trying to evolve Barboach, you first need to catch one. There are several different locations where you can find the Pokémon and can be caught while fishing in certain areas. These locations include Eterna City and Celestic Town and Routes 205, 208, 210, 212, 227, and 228. Other locations include Ravaged Path, Oreburgh Gate, Mt. Coronet, and the Great Marsh. For locations like Swampy Cave, Still-Water Cave, Riverbank Cave, Fountainspring Cave, and Bogsunk Cave, players will need to get their hands on the Waterfall and Strength TMs to access the areas. Look around and fish in these areas until you are able to catch yourself a Barboach, and you will be on your way to evolving it.

Once you have the Barboach, the actual process of evolving them is very simple. There is no item needed to perform the evolution, and getting Barboach to a Whiscash only takes getting the Pokémon to a certain level. In this case, it is Level 30. Once your Barboach reaches that level, it will evolve. If you happen to catch a Barboach over this level, simply level up again and should evolve with no problem!
Both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are available now on the Nintendo Switch.
