Chimchar is the Fire-type starter for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, with his final evolution being the hot-headed Infernape. Whether they decide to start with Chimchar and make it through the evolution tree or get the monkey a different way, a lot of players at some point saw Infernape in their party lineup. Now, with the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, his debut games are getting revisited. With players getting a chance to jump back into the region of Sinnoh and attempting to “catch ’em all,” some players are going to get the chance to put Infernape in their team. Once you do get your hands on them, that is only half the battle with the other half being the battles themselves. When you get into a Pokémon battle, it is important to know the weaknesses of your Pokémon, and Infernape is the same case. This guide will break down what Infernape’s weaknesses are in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Infernape’s Weaknesses in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Infernape is a Fire and Fighting-type Pokémon, thus making it weak to four different types. Those types are Ground, Psychic, Flying, and Water. Luckily, there is no weakness that does four times the damage to Infernape. These weaknesses come out to do two times the regular damage against Infernape.

While it is good to know Infernape’s weaknesses to ensure he avoids those situations, it is just as important to also find Infernape’s strengths. Unfortunately, Infernape isn’t immune to any attack types, but the Fiery Monkey is strong against its own type of Fire as well as Steel, Grass, Ice, Dark, and Bug types. The first five types listed in that list will do half damage against Infernape, while Bug-type attacks will do even less damage at one-fourth of the regular output. This makes it very important that you know to use it against these types of Pokémon.
Both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are available now on the Nintendo Switch.
