Nintendo has officially announced the first direct of 2020, and it has a theme: Pokemon! All trainers will need to report for duty on January 9, 2020, at 6:30 AM PT to hear all the latest news and updates.
Pokemon Direct is scheduled for January 9, 2020, at 6:30 AM PT (9:30 AM EST). It will stream live on Nintendo’s Youtube, Twitch, Facebook and Twitter account “for roughly 20 minutes”.
At the moment, Nintendo has not made any further announcements as to what fans should expect from the Direct. With Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield having just released in November, it is a safe bet that fans will be updated on new events or future projections for one of the fastest-selling Switch games of all time.

Along with Sword and Shield updates, a fan has started to speculate on whether Pokemon Home and Sleep will be discussed further in the newest direct. Announced last May, Home is basically a cloud-based storage service app that allows players to take their favorite Pokemon wherever they go. Similarly, Pokemon Sleep is also an app that monitors a player’s sleep. From the announcement, the Sleep app functions with the Pokemon GO+ and will change according to the time of day.
Also a possibility (although a small one) Nintendo might address the two Facebook games recently released by The Pokemon Company. Pokemon Tower Battle has trainers catching Pokemon in order to build the tallest, strongest towers from their pocket monsters. Pokemon Medallion Battle is a strategic card battle extravaganza.
Maybe if fans are really lucky, Nintendo might even drop hints about the rumored Switch model…
