Longtime Pokèmon fans will instantly recognize the purple blob that is Ditto. In Pokèmon Go, it’s as difficult to catch Ditto as you would think. With our advice, you’ll hopefully grab this Pokèmon up to add to your Pokèdex soon.
How to Catch Ditto in Pokèmon Go
Introduced in Generation I, Ditto is a Normal-type that doesn’t evolve. What makes Ditto stand out in Pokèmon Go is that you’ll never catch them in their actual form. Rather, Ditto mimics other Pokèmon’s looks and abilities.
So, you’re dealing with a mimic trickster. And the only way to catch such a character is with, well, luck.
Since Ditto can take on any character, you should aim to catch any creatures you come across in the wild. You’ll know right when you catch Ditto in Pokèmon Go as the word “Oh?” will come up above the ball rather than your standard “Gotcha!”. Soon after, what you thought you caught will morph back into Ditto.
You can even encounter a Shiny Ditto. But going out in the wild is the only way to find Ditto. You can’t hatch them from an egg.
An excellent way to find them is to search for Pokèmon they’re known to imitate. Here are some that other players have mentioned Pokèmon on the following list as Ditto disguises:
There are probably plenty more, but these are good ones to keep watch for in Pokèmon Go to get Ditto. This is an excellent time to use your radar to keep checking for these. Also, don’t forget to use your incense and lures to increase your chances of spawning these Pokèmon.
Also, you can always crowd-source Ditto. Join a local Pokèmon Go community if you haven’t already and ask around about their encounters. This way, you’ll know where you can start looking.
