Are you eager to catch your first Shiny Pokémon? Or maybe you’re ready to add to your ever-growing collection of Shinies? Unfortunately, unless there is a specific event ongoing, it’s not always simple to catch them. In the case of a Shiny Corphish, there are a few areas you can hang around to increase your chance to catch one in Pokémon GO.
How to Catch Shiny Corphish in Pokémon GO
Corphish is a simple Pokémon, and as it is a base evolution, there is a decent chance of encountering one in the wild. You will want to look near bodies of water for an increased spawn rate. This includes areas such as rivers, lakes, oceans, ponds, etc.
In this case, if you want a good chance to catch Shinhy Corphish in Pokémon GO, merely head to watery regions. Back in 2022, Corphish was a part of the Pokémon GO Safari Zone Seville event. During it, there was an increased spawn rate for Corphish at the start of every hour.
However, the current Let’s GO event can also improve your chances to catch a Shiny Corphish. This is because Corphish is one of the few Pokémon that Ditto will turn into. Because of the increased spawn rate of Ditto, there is also an increased spawn rate of the Pokémon it can pretend to be.
The only thing is you will still have to luck out to encounter and catch a Shiny Corphish in Pokémon GO.

In this case, for every Corphish you see, you should initiate an encounter with them. This is the only way you will tell if it is a Shiny one or not. Note that if you see a Shiny Corphish, it will stay Shiny. Meaning Ditto can never be another Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO. This should give you far more peace of mind that you won’t waste a Shiny encounter just for it to transform into Ditto afterward.
On the other hand, if you see a regular Corphish or any other Pokémon that can transform, the Ditto can actually turn out to be Shiny. So, during this event, you may find yourself with both a Shiny Corphish and a Shiny Ditto.
Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android.
