Buzzwole is a Bug and Fighting-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO. It’s an Ultra Beast with no evolutions, a beefy appearance and overall balanced stats. Previously attainable through Pokemon Go Fests, you’ll have another opportunity to get Buzzwole through the Finale event later this month. Knowing the Pokemon’s strengths, weaknesses and counters will help you figure out whether it’s worth trying to catch Buzzwole and how viable it is in combat. This guide provides information on the best Movesets and various Counters for Buzzwole in Pokemon GO.
The Best Movesets and Counters for Buzzwole in Pokemon GO
The best moveset to use with Buzzwole in Pokemon GO is Counter and Superpower. With both of these moves having the highest DPS and benefiting from Same-Type Attack Bonuses, these are by far your best bet. Despite having the highest energy consumption out of the four main moves, Superpower also has the highest overall damage output, offsetting this minor disadvantage.
What Counters Buzzwole?
Since Buzzwole is a Bug and Fighting-type, it is weak against Flying, Fire, Psychic and Fairy-type moves. In particular, Flying-type moves inflict 256% of their usual damage while the other three deal 160%. Buzzwole is also resistant to five different types, including other Bug and Fighting types! Considering this, the following Pokemon are examples of those that are strong against Buzzwole in Pokemon GO:
- Staraptor: Gust and Brave Bird
- Rayquaza:Â Air Slash and Hurricane or Aerial Ace
- Braviary: Air Slash and Brave Bird
- Honchkrow: Peck and Brave Bird or Sky Attack
- Moltres: Wing Attack and Sky Attack
- Unfezant: Air Slash and Sky Attack

Alongside being weak against four different types, Buzzwole is resistant to five types in Pokemon GO:
- Fighting
- Ground
- Bug
- Grass
- Dark
If you’re using Buzzwole during battles, prioritize using Flying-type Pokemon to maximize your damage output. If you don’t have any of the six Pokemon listed above, try to use other Flying types or one of the other three Buzzwole is weak against. As long as you use Flying, Fire, Psychic or Fairy types and avoid the five types listed above, you’ll have a notable advantage during your fights. If you’re using Buzzwole in battles, be sure to swap it out for another, such as a Steel or Rock-type, if you’re up against Flying Pokemon!
