Tyranitar, the final evolution form of Larvitar and Pupitar, is a Rock- and Dark-type Pokémon that serves as a Tier-3 Raid Boss in Pokémon GO. Wielding 23,779 Combat Power, this Johto Pokémon can be soloed by a high-level Trainer or be fought with at least two lower-level players. As a Rock- and Dark-type Pokémon, Tyranitar is resistant to Normal-, Flying-, Poison-, Ghost-, Fire-, Dark-, and Psychic-type Moves. Conversely, this Raid Boss’s dual-type attribute makes it vulnerable to Ground-, Bug-, Steel-, Water-, Grass-, Fairy-, and especially Fighting-type abilities in Pokémon GO. Therefore, to take advantage of Tyranitar’s primary weakness, Trainers must form a Raid party that can utilize Fighting Movesets in Pokémon GO.
Countering Tyranitar in Pokémon GO
Since Tyranitar’s greatest weakness is Fighting-type Moves, the best counters for this Rock- and Dark-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO are Shadow Machamp and Shadow Hariyama. However, Trainers who do not have these two Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon GO can use regular unaltered Pokémon of the same element.
