Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Oshawott are the three Starter Pokémon players can choose from in the pocket-monster franchise’s latest release, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Cyndaquil is a Fire-Type Pokémon with Hisuian Typhlosion as its final evolution. Rowlet is a Grass and Flying-Type Pokémon that eventually evolves into Hisuian Decidueye. Finally, Hisuian Samurott is the final form of Water-Type Oshawott. While each Pokémon provides distinct elemental strengths and weaknesses, it is important that Trainers choose the Pokémon they like the best. Still, picking the best Starter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus will give players a much easier time in the earlier game.
The Best Starter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Between Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Oshawott, the Best Starter Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is Oshawott. The reason players would want to choose this Water-Type Pokémon is primarily that its elemental characteristics are strong against two of three Noble Pokémon that players must battle early on.

In previous Pokémon titles, defeating Gym Leaders was one of a Trainer’s main objectives. However, in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players will be facing Noble Pokémon, challenging, wild bosses. Three that players will encounter early on are Bug and Rock-Type Kleavor, Fighting and Grass-Type Lilligant, and Fire and Rock-Type Hisuian Arcanine.
As mentioned above, Oshawott can counter two of these Noble Pokémon, as well as the frequent Rock-Type wild Pokémon that players will face along their journey. Cyndaquil is only effective against one of the bosses, while Rowlet cannot counter any of them. As a result, Oshawott is the best Starter choice in the early game.
