Welcome Back to Kanto
In Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! players will return to the Kanto Region. The game is based on Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition. Players will get to experience the original 1998 game in an entirely new way.
Capturing Pokémon works like Pokémon Go!
Fans familiar with the Pokémon Companies previous titles will notice that capturing the adorable monsters is drastically different. While players travel around the game world, instead of walking in tall grass to trigger a wild encounter, the Pokémon will be visible wandering about the fields. Simple approach the Pokémon to attempt to catch it.
Once you touch the Pokémon, you’ll get a chance to throw Poké Balls at it in a manner very similar to the mobile game Pokémon GO. The wild Pokémon will move around and may try to intimidate you, but don’t get distracted! Just wave your Joy-Con controller with proper timing to throw a Poké Ball. If you’re playing the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode, you’ll move the system around to aim and then throw the Poké Ball by pressing the A Button.”
Once capturing the Pokémon, the pocket monsters in the player’s party will gain experience. Once they gain enough points, they will level up, increase their stats, and sometimes learn new moves.
Pokémon Gym and Trainer Battles
Want to be Pokémon masters will also do battle with trainers and gym leaders. Battles with trainers work like previous Pokémon games. Players can select moves, switch out Pokémon, and use an item to support it.
While traveling the world, players must battle gym leaders to earn badges. We got our first look at two familiar leaders in Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! Brock the Rock-type expert and Misty, the Water-type leader.
Before entering a Gym, you must meet certain conditions such as having Pokémon of a certain type or level.”
Playing and Caring for Pokémon
When players aren’t battling or training their Pokémon, they can spend some downtime relaxing. Interacting with Pokémon strengthens the bond between them and their trainer. Players can also dress their Pokémon in various outfits, give them accessories, and change their hairstyle. Unlike previous games, any Pokémon players catch can be a traveling companion.
When you take a Pokémon out of its Poké Ball, it will walk with you to make your journey even more fun. As you explore the Kanto region with them, your Pokémon might even find hidden items. Plus, different Pokémon can travel in different ways. Some Pokémon will even let you ride them, allowing you to move faster around the Pokémon world.”
Traveling with Friends
Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! will offer co-operative play with Support Play. Trainers can team up with a friend to capture wild Pokémon and battle other trainers. They will also be able to battle and trade with other players, like previous games.
Players can explore the Kanto region once again when Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! releases November 16th, 2018.
