Pokémon Masters EX is officially turning two, which means developer DeNA has big plans for an anniversary event to mark this milestone. Mobile gacha games live and die based upon how rapidly they put out fresh content. With long-running hits like Fire Emblem Heroes, Final Fantasy Record Keeper, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp under their belt, DeNA knows how to keep a ball rolling. Let’s take a look at the big Pokémon Masters EX anniversary event update.
Sygna Suit Leon & Eternatus
“Leon is feeling keenly mystical in his new sygna suit,” Sygna Suit Leon’s official description reads. “He is on a journey to find new strength and possibilities for his future along with his powerful partner, Eternatus.” It’s a simple enough setup that serves as an excuse for players to recruit a stylishly-garbed Galar Champion and the most legendary of Galarian legendaries, but then, sometimes flavor text is all we need to elevate that victorious feeling.
As a “sync pair,” Sygna Suit Leon and Eternatus have the ability to trigger the Dynamax phenomenon once per battle. Eternatus’ Dynamax-enabled Max Move is called Eternabeam, and in addition to dishing out massive damage, it also handily refreshes the player’s move gauge.
We’ll be able to add Sygna Suit Leon and Eternatus to our roster via the Sygna Suit Leon Poké Fair Scout, who will be available from now until September 15th. As the former king himself often says, let’s have ourselves a champion time with this Pokémon Masters EX anniversary event, shall we?
Add Hop & Zamazenta
The Galar tour of prominent who’s-whos continues with Hop and Zamazenta, a Steel-type team that can be yours as a reward for completing the Howling Shield of Eternity event. What exactly is the Howling Shield of Eternity event, you ask? A chance to team up with Gloria, Hop, and Leon as they face off against Eternatus, who arrives on the island of Pasio courtesy of a crashing meteor.
This isn’t exactly how the story goes in the games, of course, nor the anime, but then, Pokémon Masters EX marches to the beat of its own canonical drum, and any anniversary event update is going to “G-Max” plot shenanigans appropriately.
Gloria & Zacian Return
Isn’t Gloria just one of the coolest-designed Pokémon protagonists in franchise history? There’s an elegance to her that reminds me The Pokémon Company is sometimes just as good at human designs as the all-important critters themselves. But surely you didn’t click on this article to read my thoughts on cute backpacks, so let’s press forward.
Gloria and Zacian is a team that’s been available before, but (contrary to what DeNA would no doubt prefer!) not everybody has time to chase after every single recruitment event for two years of content. Thankfully, we have another shot at her, and all we need to do is speak with the Gloria Poké Fair Scout between August 15th and September 1st. It’s a shorter window than the one for Sygna Suit Leon and Eternatus, so don’t dawdle if you want to deploy the power of Zacian’s Behemoth Blade, an extreme Max Move that eats up four out of six slots on the move gauge to dish the sort of damage only a Pokémon Masters EX anniversary event shenanigan can possibly provide.
A Special Website Launches
Pokémon Masters EX will officially cap off two years of service on August 29th. This milestone will be marked not merely by the teams I’ve listed above but through presently undisclosed events that we’ll be sure to keep a savvy eye on.
A special “log-in bonus bingo” will be available as well. Those of us who dutifully log into the game every day from now until August 27th can earn up to 2,600 gems. If you tackle the Run-Up to Two Years Special Missions, you’ll be eligible for another 1,200 gems.
The special website celebrating the anniversary event updates for Pokémon Masters EX will undoubtedly go dark after the party’s over, so check back daily to see what’s in store for this landmark phase of the successful mobile game.
